"Save the Manatees" Jigsaw research activity
How do jigsaw activities work?
*You are assigned to "home" group to collaborate and gather information to use in one unified end project.
*Each of you will become an expert on a given topic within your "home" group.
*From your "home" group, you will meet with your breakout "expert" groups to research your topic. You will be expected to work together within this group to gather quality information to take back to your "home" group. Use this Defenders of Wildlife website (the same organization we read about in our article "Return of the Wolves."
http://www.defenders.org/
*Once you are back in your "home" group, you will TEACH your group members all about this topic. Each of you will take notes on the graphic organizer that was provided to you.
Final Assessment: Create a "Save the Manatee" poster
*With your "home" group, use all the information you gathered and take on the role of manatee activist. Create a "poster" to persuade others to realize the importance of saving this endangered species.
